Information for Buyers: An Artful Compromise

People who try to sell their home on their own begin to appreciate the expertise of professional real estate agents as soon as their first offer comes in   They want to sell their home and they have found someone who wants to buy it.  But what happens next?
When the negotiations begin, things can get a little bit uncomfortable.  There is a lot of emotion involved in each side of the transaction.  The seller wants to sell but has memories associated with the house and also wants to get as much money as they can.  The buyer is excited about the idea of owning a new home, but also wants to pay as little as they can.  This can become very stressful and challenging.
The buyers may seem unreasonable if they make an offer that is considerably less than the seller is willing to accept.  The buyers may become offended by the seller’s attitude.
With professional real estate agents are involved, the process is much less adversarial.  The two parties see very little of each other until the rough edges have been smothered out and they have reached a meeting of the minds on price and terms. Good real estate agents know how to keep personalities out of the transaction and to help both sides reach a mutually agreeable compromise.
